Ambient Weather sensors with Hearth
Hearth makes a Daikin, Amana or Goodman smart thermostat aim for the rooms you live in, not the hallway it hangs in. If you have an Ambient Weather station, its indoor sensors can be those room sensors, and its outdoor sensor shows the weather outside on History. Hearth connects to your AmbientWeather.net account directly: no extra hub, bridge or code.
What works
- Any Ambient Weather station that uploads to AmbientWeather.net (such as the WS-2902 and WS-5000).
- The console's own indoor sensor, and up to 8 add-on sensors (such as the WH31E), each as a room.
- The station's outdoor sensor, as the home's outdoor sensor.
- Temperature, humidity and low-battery alerts. Hearth reads your stations every minute, so readings are as fresh as your station's upload interval (1 to 5 minutes, set in the awnet app).
Set it up
- In your Ambient Weather account at ambientweather.net, open Account, then API Keys, and create a key.
- In Hearth, the home's admin opens Settings, then Admin, then Sensors, taps Ambient Weather and enters the key. Hearth checks it with Ambient Weather before saving it.
- Your sensors appear under Ambient Weather with Add. Add the ones Hearth should use and name each for the room it measures. A home has up to 10 sensors.
- Tap a sensor to have the thermostat control its room. Until then, its room isn't controlled by the thermostat.
Good to know
- The key is stored encrypted and used only to read your stations. Disconnecting Ambient Weather in Hearth deletes it. See the privacy policy.
- If Ambient Weather stops accepting the key, Hearth stops reading and asks you to reconnect.
- If a sensor goes quiet, its room falls back to the thermostat until readings return.
- Something not working? Email contact@meethearth.app with what Admin shows for Ambient Weather under Sensors.
